Russ Cook

Russ is a second term Councillor with Townsville City Council and sits on many Boards/Committees, he is the current Chair of Townsville Water & Waste Standing Committee and the Community Safety Advisory Committee. He is also a member of many Community Boards/Committees including Townsville White Ribbon Committee and the Community Supporting Police Inc Committee

Russ volunteers his time as a Legatee and is committed to regularly visiting and assisting families of those who have served their country. He also volunteers as a Mentor with the PCYC community-based program “Breaking the Cycle” assisting young people to achieve their 100 hours as a Learner Driver.

As well as a long-standing career as a serving member of the ADF and an Operational Police Officer in the Queensland Police Service Russ has also owned and operated a range of businesses including turf farms, restaurants, driving schools and franchise businesses.

Russ has Diploma’s in Arts/Psychology, Business, Business Management and Public Safety.  Russ has successfully completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course and is an Affiliate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He has been married for 33 years and has 4 children and 6 grandchildren; he is also a staunch NQ Cowboys supporter.
