Story

Alex was brave and courageous from diagnosis date through to the day he passed. He was my firstborn child and I believe my soul mate. We just got each other and had a very easy mother/son relationship. I could not fault him in any way and everyone that met him felt the same. Almost angelic from the day he was born. Alex was healthy and athletic until he was diagnosed at 16 years. He had just gotten his learner driver license, about to start his last year of school and was making decisions about his career path. Then this DIPG monster entered our lives and shattered all of our futures. It was shockingly cruel, watching Alex suffer, it broke my heart. Having no hope but having to put a hopeful spin into every day was draining. Experiencing so many emotions at the same time you are trying to care for your loved one was agonizing. That nine months went so fast, no parent is ever ready to say goodbye to their child. Every part of me misses my amazing and beautiful boy. I talk to him all the time and hear what he says back. I believe his spirit is always beside me. That is the only way I can make it through each day without being able to see his smile and give him big hugs. Forever missed and forever loved!
